In Chiapas and Oaxaca states, Mexico travelling by road --especially buses and collective taxis --is difficult and dangerous for immigrants who, in addition to jailing and deportation, face organized extortion, theft, rape, assault, kidnapping, and even murder at the hands of private, government, and police officials.
