Children and elders were warmly wrapped up against the bitter cold and stowed safely amongst the packages. Then, with a subtle signal, the Innu set off across the ice towards their new homes.

On December 14th 2002 the first Innu were finally ready to move to their new homes. On the frozen sea in front of Davis Inlet 24 families gathered that morning, their belongings packed into kamotiks (sledges) hauled behind snowmobiles.
