After the war, homes were allocated to the injured freedom fighters by the government. 28 years later many of these homes are not suitable for living with many disabled freedom fighters live in common housing.

Out of all the freedom fighters at the ‘Freedom Fighter’s Village’, around 20 to 25 came from outside of Dhaka (the capital of Bangladesh). In this so-called ‘village’, the freedom fighters have to obey rules in every step of their daily lives. There are rules for eating and rules for returning home, as well as for many other things. They recieve 10 Taka per day pocket money (approx. 18.5 cents).
