With the very land as their church, the Sertanejos continue to return to Canudos and other towns - called Bom Jesus da Lapa, Juazeiro do Norte, Monte Santo, Santa Brígida and Canindé.Year after year and lay their hardy bodies on the
dusty altar to offer themselves to their Christ before the unforgiving sky and the searing sun. Every year they continue their ritual ebb and flow through the vast emptiness in search of redemption - in search of mystic waters.
