The lack of fat people in the fashion and media industries has pushed a minority
to react and to campaign for the right to take part in French society. Some
national associations, such as “Ronde et Jolie” and “Styl'
XI”, promote the big size in France. A few modelling and casting agencies
are now doing the same.
Céline, 26, has been overweight since her childhood. She had always
been upset about her weight until she applied for an online beauty contest
for fat women. The recognition she received from strangers on the web has
changed her life.
