Top right: Saz players in a Cemevi in Dalston; other pictures: celebrating Ocalan's Birthday at Halkevi community centre in North London. It was founded as a Turkish organisation in 1984 but identified itself as Kurdish by the 1990s. It’s own change of identity reflects the exiled Kurdish people’s growing sense of nationalism. The Halkevi strongly supports the PKK and organises many events publicising Turkish state oppression.
