Michael used to teach languages in Asmara, he has been waiting eight months
for his documents. His dream is find a job and live in a small flat with his
girl friend.
His journey from Libya to Lampedusa on a small, crowded fishing boat lasted
three days.
A few minutes after they reached port the boat Sank, fortunately no one died.

Birex was with his wife and his son when arrived at "Marina di Ragusa".
After their registration they decided to stay in Palermo. They still live
in the collective centre but in separate sections, male and female. He hopes
to live and raise his son in Italy.

Stanley, 46 from India.
He arrived at “ Porto Palo” with 64 other people from Kerala.
Many of them are still in Italy working to survive while they await their
documentation. Stanley has
been working as a cleaner in Palermo to support his wife and the two daughters
in India. He has been waiting 15 months for his documents.
